THE BRAND
The Hondo Downtown Business Association (HDBA) is a nonprofit 501(c)(6) organization established in 2025 by local business owners passionate about preserving and revitalizing Historic Downtown Hondo. Their mission is to create, cultivate, and showcase the commerce, culture, and community that make Hondo special, preserving the past while building a vibrant future for the town they call home.
Through partnerships with neighboring businesses, local organizations, and valued members, the HDBA works to breathe life back into Hondo’s downtown district. Their efforts honor the town’s rich history from the landmark Medina County Courthouse to the final passenger train that departed in 1958 while celebrating the spirit of hospitality and connection that defines Hondo today.
Led by a dedicated board of local business owners, including President Joe Claire (The Venue by Chateau Claire), Vice President Landon Morin (Salon Landon), Treasurer Delma Torres (TNT Cleaners), Secretary Blair Terrill (Hondo Collective Market), and Board Member Melissa Claire (The Venue by Chateau Claire), the association is committed to welcoming visitors and supporting local businesses through collaboration, events, and strategic growth.
THE VISION
From the start, my goal was to help the HDBA tell the story of Hondo’s resurgence to showcase the passion, progress, and pride behind the city’s revitalization efforts. I wanted their social media to reflect the energy of a growing downtown while still honoring its heritage. Every project has been an opportunity to showcase the voices of downtown members and capture the sense of connection that lives in this town.
The HDBA’s brand requires a more civic, polished tone than many of my other clients. It’s mission-driven, rooted in storytelling that highlights the overall purpose of Historic Downtown Hondo and why it was founded in the first place. While my work with them is often project-based rather than ongoing management, it carries a strong sense of meaning. Each video, photo, or campaign contributes to something larger.
